Welcome to NILI

Why Study at the Nazarene International Language Institute?

Studies overwhelmingly prove total immersion is crucial for complete language acquisition. Here at NILI we offer a quality Spanish language program on the campus of the Nazarene Theological Seminary of South America located in the capital city of Quito, Ecuador. Here you will find yourself immersed in the language and culture through studies, ministry and travel.

Language + Culture + Ministry + Travel
= Experience of a Lifetime

Language
Ecuadorian faculty offers a variety of Spanish courses which include conversation, grammar, composition and literature. Our faculty has many years of education and teaching experience and is equipped to provide intercultural experiences and integration.

Culture
The country's wealth is in its people, language, and environment. The great multiplicity in Ecuador provides a rich environment for students to make great progress in Spanish apprehension while experiencing the wide-ranging people groups which include the Quechuan Indians of the Sierra Mountains, the Shuar Indians in the Amazon jungles, and the people of the modern cities of Quito and Guayaquil.

A third of the population is indigenous, belonging to 12 distinct ethnic groups that speak 18 distinct languages, while 10 percent of the country's population is descended from African slaves. There are 4 eco-regions (the Amazon basin, the Andes Mountains, the coastal plain, and the Galápagos Islands) which offer more diversity per square inch than any other country the size of Ecuador.

Ministry
Living with students on our campus, you will make life-long friends with Latin students from Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, and other South American countries. Because of the great sacrifices necessary by most of our national students, you’ll find their passion for serving God is inspirational and contagious.

Because the focus of our cross-cultural program is hands-on Christian ministry, you will attend weekly chapel services, participate in the life of local churches, contribute to street-evangelism events and accomplish a ministry project while living in the homes of people from local churches.

Travel
You will find yourself peering over the edge of a crater of an active volcano, canoeing down a river in the Amazon jungle, traveling to the Galapagos Islands, and experiencing an open market which sells exotic fruits and vegetables, every part of a pig you can imagine, and beautiful handmade tapestries, blankets, and clothing items from llama wool and leather.
Simply put, you cannot go anywhere in Ecuador without finding a new place to explore!
